  1. p.s. There is a theory of generational knowledge and engineering failures. It’s discussed in “Engineers of Dreams” by Henry Petroski. The argument is that a major bridge failure has an impact on all of the engineers currently working in the field. Until that incident transitions from an experience to history, engineers are more conservative in their actions. That takes 20-30 years.
